Hakaniemi makes for an interesting place for terrace life this summer, with the market square and the market hall’s terrace offering orange and natural wines, beers from small breweries, music and a relaxed evening atmosphere, among other things. During the day, you can stop by Hakaniemi for lunch, coffee and a stroll around the market square, while in the evening you can sit down on the terraces to watch the hustle and bustle of the market square.

Orange wines, natural wines and music at the Hakaniemi Market Square kiosk

Alkuviini will be open all summer in the historical kiosk at Hakaniemi Market Square, offering the widest selection of orange wines sold by the glass in Finland, as well as a wide range of natural wines.

On the 200-seat terrace of this Helsinki-based import company, visitors can enjoy not only wines, but also fresh baked goods, coffee from small roasteries, non-alcoholic products, seasonal delicacies and lager brewed just three kilometres away.

During the summer, the kiosk will also serve as an event venue, with music performances taking place between 17.00 and 22.00 from Thursday to Sunday. The kiosk and its summer terrace are open, weather permitting, from 11.00 to 23.00 on weekdays and from 9.00 to 23.00 at weekends.

Beers from small breweries and a DJ set on Thursday evenings on Hakaniemi Market Hall’s terrace

This summer, Hakaniemi Market Hall’s terrace is hosting the ETKO Brewing summer terrace, which combines the hustle and bustle of the market square, beers from small breweries and a relaxed evening programme in a fascinating way.

During the day, you can enjoy lunch dishes prepared by the hall’s operators on the terrace, while in the evenings the terrace serves as a meeting place where you can enjoy also beer and music. ETKO, which originally started out in the Herttoniemi industrial area, describes itself as a local urban brewery whose beers emphasise craftsmanship and an approachable, enjoyable taste. Throughout the summer, a changing line-up of DJs will be setting the mood on Thursday evenings from 17.00 to 20.45.
